How to use a finance calculator well

  1. Start with real inputs. Use your written loan rate, payroll deductions or monthly spending. Default amounts are illustrations.
  2. Compare the same cash budget. A longer loan, a larger SIP or a different payment date can change the result without improving the rate.
  3. Try a less favourable case. Test a lower investment return, higher cost or earlier retirement. A smooth projection cannot reproduce market uncertainty.
  4. Read the method. Taxes, dates, eligibility and fees are included only where stated. Verify final amounts with the provider or official rules.
